I already saw this video when it was first uploaded, but I find myself automatically clicking on any YouTube thumbnail that says Jimmy Page.

If I had a dollar for every time a guitar lesson video showed me box one pentatonic I would have enough to buy a brand new Mexican Telecaster now :)

Beautiful playing on that song of yours at the beginning and great quick, succinct explanation of combining modes in a free form way (which i do all the time without really thinkinbg about what scale or mode I'm in). I'm not half the guitarist you are but I did understand what you were teaching which shows me that I've actually consolidated more technical knowledge than I thought I had. So thank you! Show us some Kurt Cobaine...

great lesson. i’m kind of obsessed with pentatonics. there’s so much you can do with them. you hit on a great example and laid it out nicely.

note: if you remove the major third the combind scale then becomes dorian. put the the major third back in but remove the minor third and the combined scale becomes mixolydian. and it’s fun to play it without the ether third in there.

would love to see a breakdown like this for Randy Rhoads, Ace Frehley, Michael Schenker, George Lynch and Brian May.

The post further down, arguing the toss about what guitars he used is hilarious. If you can't tell the difference between a Tele/Strat/Dano/LP on a recording by ear, you have no chance of being able to tell whether you get close with your sound. Then, you've got the different amps he used to consider, which makes as big a difference as the guitars used.
Finally, what seems to be the main point of the video, is playing the way he plays... I saw a brilliant tribute band a few years back. The 'problem' was the guitarist was TOO good, in terms of his musical timing and technique - he wasn't loose enough. Page is an exceptional studio musician, but he was a bit more 'laid back' live.
                                                                              Great video, by the way.

Robert another great video! Jimmy Page is one of my favorite guitarist of all time, and gets a bad rap for his lead playing all the time. IMHO The thing that gets me is the average listener doesn’t care if you can shred a thousand notes clearly, distinctly, and are a fretboard master those are the cares of other guitarist that shred endlessly or for the Internet fretboard masters. Don’t get me wrong I appreciate the technical prowess of the malmsteen ‘s of the world but can only take so much of endless barrage monotonous notes before i have to move on. I much prefer a mixture of feeling, emotions, and that on the edge swagger you get from a Jimmy Page solo , and for the people who immediately jump : no it’s not because I don’t want to put in he endless hours of practice and spend every waking hour attempting to play as fast and furious as I can, I just would rather play a billy gibbons or Jimmy Page or even a angus young style solo. It sure has seemed to work well for them! Again great video 👍

Honestly most guitar instruction videos bore me and arent very good, they seem to cover the same ol things over and over. I really like this one. He is really knowledgeable, has great presentation skills, and of course talent. Its nice to see videos like these that are so helpful. Great job!
