Why don't we all learn a different language and come back in 6 months to hold a conversation in the comments?

If you wanna learn Japanese there's a very specific way to learn. You gotta memorize the alphabets. (It should take you less than a week, even shorter if you're a crammer.)

Avoid at all cost Youtube videos that try to prove it's super easy to learn! You gotta want it, and do it. There's no easy way to learn a language except for practicing and memorizing all of the words and sentence structures. The true hard way of learning a language is finding short cuts.

I'm a Vietnamese not understanding Chinese at all, of course I know Vietnamese was influenced alot by Chinese since having the same root of language, but no, you can't go to Vietnam then expect us talking Chinese fluently or vice versa, you have to learn from the very beginning.
By the way, he is right about body language, humans use body to communicate without realizing doing it all the time. People understand each other through 30% with language, 70% with face, eyes, shoulders, hands etc the whole body.
What I want to say is he may be right at some points, however to be fluent in foreign language by 6 months in reality, there are so much strict conditions, like finding out a friend born with that language etc

After he claims that immersion does not work, he proceed to describe immersion in a couple different ways...

Living in a country where the majority of people speaks the target language does not equals immersion... there are neighborhoods of the origin language and people can just isolate in those and be in a kind of bubble like state. They go to restaurants that speak native language, and also stores, they find TV channels in the native language, they set up their computer to the native language. They find jobs where there is a lot of people form their native language... In a city with a reasonable sized community of people from the same country, you will be able to find this kind of cultural bubbles.

Americans in China live there for 20 years and never lean the language... they live in the American Neighborhood, a closed, gated community with all the amenities they need inside, all in English... Your picture should be of a person in an inflatable floating device instead of a person drowning.

I am not sure the Drawing in 5 days is a correct analogy... it drives the point, by comparison, that you will draw better, but not like an artist = you will be better at the target language but not like a native.

The problem with that is that you already had some understanding of drawing, you didn't started with a blank paper. How long it takes from nothing to bad drawing?

I think the main thing here is... what level of communication a person can get in 6 months with this method, comparing to other methods... I learned English from virtually nothing... at the plane in my way to Miami International Airport (8 hours fly) I learned how to find the bathroom and how to ask the fly attendant for drinks and food. Now I am trying to break the barrier of "native speaking" and actually become a copywriter, a skill that will help me a lot in my carrer. We are talking here of more than 10 years of learning the language.
