I thought the whole point of the infield fly rule was to stop the easy double play.

6:19 It looks to me like the infielder just couldn’t see the ball. I don’t know why you would intentionally drop it right there, you have no chance of a double play, it’s the same result either way. Unless Trout’s a really good base runner and Pujols isn’t but still, not a major issue. Definitely not a super intelligent play, it looks a lot like he just couldn’t see the ball.

+Jeremy S that right there is the issue, these guys are young and train hard. WHO CARES how far behind you are, you try your hardest till the end. The 2 or 3 times of 10 at bats you get a hit is not going to kill you to hustle to first base

You have to realize that the MLB is a game of endurance. There's 162 regular season games these guys have to play through and it's not like this is a world series deciding play. The Mets were already up 7-0 in the bottom of the 6th, only 1 person on 1st, and 2 outs. Him making it to 1st safe would have had little to no difference in the overall outcome of the game. You should try to be like me and save your frustration for the post season games that matter lol

Infield fly rule is not in effect if there is no runner on second base. Also, infield fly is called at discretion of umpires in all cases.
