  • As one of the founders of Uncle Tupelo, Jeff Tweedy helped jumpstart the alt-country movement in the early 1990s. But in Wilco – the band that rose from Uncle Tupelo’s ashes – the singer-songwriter set his sights on more ambitious musical adventures. Explore Yankee Hotel Foxtrot in this episode of Liner Notes.

I was working at Tower Records when I got "Yankee Hotel Foxtrot" as a promo CD. I had loved "Being There."

When I heard "Yankee Hotel Foxtrot" for the first time, it blew my mind. But it can take some listens to grasp.

My favorite part of YHF is how in Reservations you can hear the piano bench creak as he leans forward and back with every chord. At least that's what it sounds like to me.

One of the best and one of my favorite albums of all time. It's hard to put into words how much Yankee Hotel Foxtrot means to me. It's a very cathartic album to listen to in many ways, and usually brings tears. They've many amazing albums, but this album is on another level entirely. A modern masterpiece. Wilco will love you, baby.
